As part of the “Partners with Impact” project, IMS Luxembourg has invited a broad range of stakeholders to its first co-creation workshop on the topic of overindebtedness of individuals in Luxembourg

This cycle of 4 workshops aims at enabling member companies of IMS and social and solidarity-based companies in Luxembourg to respond together from idea to action to a social issue Priority of the territory. Faced with an increasing number of situations of over-indebtedness and the absence of a policy in this area, the prevention of over-indebtedness seems to be a priority issue in Luxembourg.

Contrary to what one might think, the spiral of over-indebtedness does not only affect the most deprived. In reality, these are often employees and managers, whose financial balance has been suddenly disrupted by divorce or separation, death of a spouse, illness or, more frequently, “Simple” loss of employment.

Since the initiatives in the field of support and the fight against over-indebtedness are very fragmented, this project seeks first and foremost to promote better coordination of economic players and social and solidarity structures in Luxembourg.

In order to better identify the existing actors and mechanisms, local and European organizations will give their testimony at this first workshop. The CRESUS associative network will present to us an intermediation platform created with banking institutions to prevent over-indebtedness in France.

It is also important to highlight the difficulties in identifying the multiple factors of over-indebtedness. The diversity of the actors present and their different perspectives will allow us to reflect together on the cause of over-indebtedness.

At the end of this first workshop, the participants will be able to divide themselves into working groups according to their motivations and interests. They will then be accompanied by the following three workshops in order to create or emerge innovative solutions and approaches in response to specific needs related to over-indebtedness, such as identifying people at risk upstream, developing responsible credit offerings, More people, including employees of companies, develop financial education, co-create dedicated tools, manage the collateral effects of over-indebtedness in health …

The identified solutions could lead to the creation of new activities (SIS), new services or projects within organizations / companies, socially innovative partnerships and new approaches to be co-created.

This project is therefore an opportunity to dialogue and break down the barriers between members of IMS and companies of the social economy and solidarity in Luxembourg to fight in a more coordinated way against overindebtedness of individuals and to promote responsible behavior of all actors.
